Why It Matters

Democratic Republic of the Congo is arguably one of the most difficult countries in the world to live in. Due to decades of ongoing war and conflict, exploitation, and corruption, it is one of the poorest countries, despite being one of the richest in natural resources. DR Congo has also been described as one of the worst places to be a woman.
So why is music important? Shouldn’t music be considered a luxury under these circumstances?

We all need something that sustains and fulfills us. A vehicle for cultivating fulfillment, music is also a powerful catalyst for social change.
Music Beyond provides resources, networks, and skills-based knowledge transfer that empower musicians to find fulfillment, reclaim their narratives, and extend their work beyond music into their communities.
