You are cordially invited to Music Beyond's Eighth Annual Gala on Sunday, September 25th in New York City!
After two years of virtual galas, we are so excited to hold this year's gala in person again. Now that we have expanded our operations to Goma, we have also expanded the genres that we represent. The gala will be filled with the stories and music of our musicians, spanning everything from classical music to Congolese rumba to traditional African and more!
This year, we want to celebrate Congolese culture with a Sapeurs-themed gala.
The Sapeurs began as a reaction against the colonial superiority of the Belgian in the early 20th century. Tired of being seen as "less than" by the colonizers, they began to dress in bold colors and high fashion to assert themselves as human beings. Since then, the Sapeurs have continued to evolve as a means of artistic expression and to show the world that despite their physical environments, they are valuable contributors to society. So come dressed in your best Sapeurs-inspired attire!
This will be a fun-filled event with the Democratic Republic of Congo at the very heart of our celebration.
Secure your ticket today and see you on September 25th!
