Quick Takes – Josephine (flutist of the Kimbanguist Symphony Orchestra)

“For me, music is something extraordinary, something that is really fantastic in my life,” Josephine says softly. A flutist with the Kimbanguist Orchestra and a mother figure to the group’s woodwind section, she credits her playing, and the involvement of Music Beyond, with helping her get back on track after a debilitating illness left her barely able to sit or walk.

Music Beyond is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that trains musicians to become music teachers in developing countries, starting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
